UN DOMINGO DE RAMOS

Retrato de un cuerpo en llamas
Cuerpo Distorsionado desfigurado

STATEMENT:

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

STATEMENT:
Photography for me is the kind of art that I consider it can represent life in its purest way, Indeed it immortalizes the present and using different tools of retouching we are able of getting a glimpse of the past and a try to represent the future. Thus, through this last project, I want to show my passion for fashion, art, erotism, and sensuality.
Emulating the beauty of Hellenistic sculpture and taking as the main inspiration the ancient Greek art I really want to broadcast what it means for me to be erotic and sensual without the need of touching the morbid attractive that awakens something that can be unpleasant. In fact, taking the Hellenistic sculpture as spur I want to represent impossible curves and heavenly postures that evoke the true beauty of the body itself without any excuses neither apologies, I really want to show the human body in its naturalistic and most expressive way depicting every emotion and feeling that goes through our veins. Nonetheless, I’ll avoid fully nakedness to prevent any kind of future regretting. Just to capture the nature of a person, to give this person the opportunity to feel what’s like being in a pedestal and being enjoyable for what they essentially are.
I want to deal with the stigmatization of the sexuality of the body. For me the body is nowhere near being tabu, everybody has one, that’s the original part of nature we all, almost, have the same parts in our bodies but we’ve also been told not to show them or exhibit them in any way, which I essentially find terribly wrong, anybody should be allowed to be proud of his body and to show it with no regrets or hesitation. What really moves me to do this project its to really normalize that someone can be sensual, can be attractive and sexual and can be showing himself and not necessarily be fully naked and most importantly that there’s nothing wrong with it. I pretend to truly manifest that it's completely okay to show a nipple. For example, that the human body, the only thing we’ll carry with us the rest of our life, our body, it's not banned, we have to love it and make it beautiful the way we want to. Thus, in my honest opinion, I think that the Hellenistic period of the ancient history is the one that best represents what sensuality is and is the one that I appreciate the most, it captures nature in a way that I find perfect, indeed, in this case life imitates art.
The interest of my work is that it will show people that we don’t have to be afraid of showing something that natural, it's usual and ok to play with erotism and sexuality, still being elegant and most importantly forgetting all taboo applied to nudity.
Practically I want my photos to show whole and specific parts of the body of different people, I included, in the purest way possible, not using a lot of props and using really white, beige and neutral tones and aesthetics to match the skin of the models and highlight the person the more possible.
