Desire and eroticism are shaped by the structure of the system, meaning our sexual relations are filtered through this systemic philosophy. As a result, we practice the kind of sex that aligns with what those in power want. This makes sex a political tool, one that can challenge normativity. Expressing non-normative sexuality, especially when patriarchy disavows pleasure, becomes a form of resistance that can disrupt the system.
In his book Erotism, Georges Bataille states that the terrain of eroticism is "essentially the field of violence, the field of rape." Violated cruelty is erotic because of its representation of a beauty that borders on destruction or is driven towards it. Venus is followed by Eve, who, in turn, introduces the idea of the fall—original sin, guilt, and temptation. "Eros" is implied with a certain violence, with repressed bestial impulses that return in their purest form when sexual relations take place. And it is in the torments of passion that this violent and dark side is reborn.
In Bataille's words, "It is because we are human, and because we live in the grim prospect of death, that we know the exasperated and desperate violence of eroticism.”
Eroticism and violence mix in the depths of art to broadcast a sensation in fashion, full of references to sexual liberty, such as The Swing by Fragonard, or the mere representation of the devil in human form—all at the expense of presenting the repressed exoticism of humanity.

Desire and eroticism is extremely conditioned by the structure of the system, the way in which we practice our sexual relations is totally filtered by this systemic philosophy and, therefore, the sex we practice is the one they want us to practice. Thus, sex is a political weapon that can be used against normativity, the explicit violence of communicating a non-normative sexuality is the key to the collapse of the system, especially when pleasure is denied to the patriarchy.

In Bataille's words, "It is because we are human, and because we live in the grim prospect of death, that we know the exasperated and desperate violence of eroticism." Like Thanos in Greek culture, eroticism in Bataille's imaginary is strongly linked to death and in the West eros has always been understood as a place not exclusively of pleasure, but where violence also has a place.
