The couture project entails the development of a sophisticated two-piece bridal assembly, showcasing a contemporary reinvention of the traditional Japanese kimono. This reimagined garment is meticulously separated and developed into five distinct layers, each held together by a complex and finely detailed lining. Additionally, the garment features an integrated hood, enhancing its uniqueness and elegance.
The skirt, crafted using the advanced moulage technique, comprises two distinct components: an outer cascading layer, which is artfully secured through a bow in the back, and an inner maxi skirt designed with a form-fitting corset that accentuates the bride's silhouette. This ensemble demonstrates a high level of technical skill and attention to detail, emphasizing the intricate construction methods employed.
The entire garment is painstakingly handcrafted over an extensive period of three months, utilizing premium fabrics such as satin and tulle in refined ecru tones. This dedication to craftsmanship and the use of high-quality materials underscore the garment's luxurious and exclusive nature.

The photography for this project, which I also handled, aims to elevate the bride's emotions to a more refined and elegant state. By focusing on thoughtful composition, lighting, and detail, the photos capture the bride's grace and poise, highlighting her timeless beauty. This approach not only complements the intricate craftsmanship of the bridal ensemble but also enhances the bride's elevated and sophisticated look, making each photo a true reflection of the couture piece's elegance.

High Decay

This corset was developed during my third year at university, drawing inspiration from an 1875 Victorian corset pattern featured in Mandy Barrington's "Stays and Corsets: Historical Patterns Translated for the Modern Body." Reimagining this historical piece allowed me to refine my corset construction skills, providing a deep understanding of traditional techniques while also learning to adapt these methods to suit contemporary aesthetics. This project significantly enhanced my ability to merge historical accuracy with modern design principles, resulting in a corset that honors its Victorian origins while appealing to today's fashion sensibilities.
